5 Day Painting Challenge: Day 1

Painting of a cello player

The ART+WORK+LIVING Facebook Group is holding a 5 Day Painting Challenge this week. Today was Day 1.

The goal is to paint each day for 20 – 30 mins. We were given leniency for this first day, and I took advantage of that. Started aiming for 30 mins, but needed more time. It’s been a long time away from the easel… Things became more familiar by the end.

The goal is to learn to paint quickly and confidently, and to paint every day and establish a new pattern of practice. The goal is NOT to paint a great painting–just to paint.

I’m grateful for the challenge.

Love the unprimed linen—very gestural. My initial impression was of Old Blind Pew from the beginning of Treasure Island (aside from the cello neckpiece).

You could do worse than to be compared to N.C. Wyeth. =)
